Guard files defamation lawsuit following acts of retaliation

Many establishments in Ohio and elsewhere hire security guards to keep watch over daily operations and help maintain a safe environment. When a dangerous incident occurs, especially one that proves fatal, a company may wish to review the situation and determine if the necessary measures were taken by the guards who were on duty at the time. A man has recently filed a defamation lawsuit against his employer after he was accused of involvement in a fatal incident that he claims never even occurred.

The incident reportedly began when the former director of security filed a report claiming that the guard was involved in a fatal incident where a person committed suicide by drowning in a pool. However, the guard claims these allegations are false and states that such an incident never took place. Despite there being no record of a fatal drowning, the company has reportedly taken the guard off the work schedule.

The guard claims these allegations came after he and several other employees filed complaints against the former director, stating that he had created a hostile work environment. After the complaints were filed, he claims the director began taking retaliatory actions against him. The guard asserts that although the allegations against him are false, they have caused him to be subjected to ridicule and contempt and damaged his reputation significantly.

Retaliation is a major concern for many individuals, and the damage done by a malicious attempt to harm one's image can be substantial. Those who wish to safeguard against the potential consequences of such an act could consider speaking with an experienced attorney for guidance on how best to approach the situation. An attorney in Ohio can address the client's situation and assist in pursuing the restitution deserved through a defamation lawsuit against the party or parties deemed culpable.
